The West Virginia Golden Horseshoe is a contest for 8th-grade students in the state of WV.  It tests students' knowledge or facts about the state's history, economy, and current events.  Students participate in two tests to determine the winners.  Each county has a minimum of two winners.  There is a multiple-choice and an essay test.
